Here is guidance from the book of The Art of Being Human. Critical thinking is an activity of the mind that carefully defines, describes, and analyzes something: an election, an executive decision, a question that has puzzled or intrigued philosophers for centuries, a new electronic invention, a movie, a novel, wh a song is Number 1 on the Top 40, or a determination to move into your own apartment. Whatever the issue, whatever the focus of thought, the steps to take are the same: * Define the issue, problem,question, or work. * Avoid instinctive, emotional responses, at least in the beginnig. * Gather together all pertinent factors. * Try to see the whole picture in its proper context. * Forget how it relates only to you. * Offer an informaed opinion.
